"Cuban Party" by Dainty Events

Daniela says,
"This party was for my husband's 35th Birthday. I've been blessed with a very bright and happy husband who happens to love celebrating his birthdays.
Since he has Cuban heritage, my super creative business partner Karina and I decided that a Cuban party was a great way to go. We enjoyed researching about the country, their music and their culinary tendencies. This way we could include all these elements in the celebration.
We aimed to do everything sort of old style and also tropical, as {according to our research}, Cuba is. We decided to use orange, brown and green as the colours of the party and looked for tropical flowers, tropical fruits and all 'Havana style' vases and containers that could complement our decorations.
The invitations were made by us and what a better way to start a cuban celebration that a cuban cigar…not my favourite smell and habit but it seemed to fit great with the occasion. We just added a tag with the information of the party and voila!
The food was all Cuban. We divided the table in two…dedicating one side to desserts and the other one to savoury food.
In the dessert side we included; Natilla {which is sort of a vanilla and cinnamon pudding}, coconut meringues, guava preserves, plantain preserves and the cake was chocolate and vanilla coconut mud cake.
In the savoury side we included; Plantain chips, little pork rolls, corn fritters with cheeses and guava and cheese crackers.
We also included a 'Havana style bar table which was the place for the very popular mojitos along with other drinks…as my husband said …' a Cuban party is not a Cuban party without the Mojitos…' and to be fair and honest this bar was his idea. It turn out that it was the favorite place for all the 'Cuban like' guests."

"Disney Princess Party" by The Inspired Occasion

Alex says,

"We had the opportunity to theme a disney princess dessert station last week. It was a big challenge to incorporate three popular disney princess onto one dessert station. The clients brief was to incorporate Cinderella, Ariel and Beauty with colour requests of Red, Yellow and Blue. This party was for a join birthday for her daughters aged 4 and 6 and both whom loved the disney princess's.

The dessert station themed baked items include:
  • Cupcakes themed with toppers
  • Sugar biscuit in shoes and tiara
  • Jelly cups in red with glitter
  • Cakepops in blue with shimmering glitter
We decided that the best way to tackle this was to have three separate elements representing the princesses.

Cinderella:
We used a colour cordinated cushion and shoe to present our oreo cake pops on.

Ariel:
We created a Little Mermaid island using sand, starfish creations and props. We then placed our jelly cups around. An effective way we thought to represent Ariel and the colour red.

Beauty
This section of the dessert station was the most fun, replicating the main charters. Using ceramic pain it is amazing what you can turn to life. The teapot and teacup coming to life along with our candle stick. With the sugar biscuits presented around the props.

With an extensive lolly selection displayed in decorative jars and finishing touches such as the menu items being presented in a fairytale book. The client was thrilled with what we created."

"Ice Cream Party" by Just Call Me Martha

           Leoni says,

"For the ice cream party the inspiration came after I was asked to make an 'ice cream' cake for one of the designers at Kikki K, who created the new Sundae collection and I fell in love with all the gorgeous Spring pastel colours.
Immediately my head was spinning with ideas.  I knew the birthday girls loved ice cream and that we would have real ice cream at the party as well as ice cream related activities {they made ice cream out of fabric, cotton wool and paint on mini canvases.}
But I knew that realistically we could not have ice cream on the desserts table as it would all melt.  So instead I brainstormed and created a menu of items that would fit into the Sundae theme.  Some of the food items we had was choc pops {white chocolate melts flavoured with raspberry, caramel or vanilla candy oil, then tinted in the pastel colours, poured into an icy pole chocolate mould and left to set}, Ice cream pops {cake balls dipped in pastel white chocolate then placed onto mini ice cream cones}, ice cream cookies, ice cream sundae cupcakes, mini strawberry mousse, mini milkshakes {each glass rim was dipped in white chocolate then dipped in sprinkles}, mini popcorn served in Robert Gordon striped ice cream cups, fruit cones {fresh strawberries, grapes and water melon served in white paper cones} and macarons {lemon and strawberry}.
The cake was a two tier lemon and raspberry butter cake filled with raspberry buttercream, the ice cream topper inspired by the Sundae Collection.
Each child went home with a party box filled with ice cream pencils, ice cream note pad, icy pole eraser, a bag of ice cream lollies and and icy pole soapcicle."
